QUIET

CAPSULE

The Quiet Capsule

The Quiet Capsule, a bright, airy, and intricately constructed space dedicated to student relaxation, replaced the small windowless prayer room that previously greeted Central Saint Martins’ staff and students.

Over a year of consultation and work went into the production of this bespoke space, and 'out of the prayer rooms around our other colleges such as LCC, High Holborn, Chelsea, Camberwell and others, CSM's was the most difficult one to get done' said Mostafa - SUARTS culture and diversity officer. This was partly because students (Previn Naidoo, Jordan Cottage, Catherine Bella and Luca Ponticelli) from the Architectural Department of CSM designed it.

Leigh was instrumental in translating the ideas of this talented group of students into the finished article, which you can see from the surrounding photographs.

According to Ponticelli, the space is a monolithic structure that gives a person the feeling of protection by offering students security and a place to practice their belief in peace.
